The British commercial broadcaster ITV has renewed an output deal with producer Chorion for eight new Agatha Christie films.
The deal includes a new adaptation of Christie’s most famous novel, Murder on the Orient Express.
TV said that it will air a new take on Murder on the Orient Express next year, featuring an all-star cast. It will be filmed during the 75th anniversary year of the first publication of Christie’s original 1934 novel.
The deal with Chorion, who owns rights to the Christie estate, also includes the production of four new Miss Marple films, starring Julia McKenzie, and four Hercule Poirot films, featuring David Suchet, expected to air in 2009-10.

Literary rights holder Chorion has inked an output deal with UK network ITV for eight new Agatha Christie films, including a new adaptation of her most famous novel, Murder on the Orient Express.

The output deal with Chorion also includes the production of four new Marple films, starring Julia McKenzie, and four Poirot films, featuring David Suchet, expected to air in 2009-10.
The Marple and Poirot franchises have both been tent pegs in the Sunday night line-up for the channel. Both are distributed globally by ITV Global Entertainment.

Mammoth Screen's Michelle Buck and Damien Timmer will executive produce for ITVP with Phil Clymer for Chorion.
Murder on the Orient Express will mark David Suchet's 20th year of playing the Belgian detective, and will be filmed during the 75th anniversary year of the novel's first publication.
Next year will also mark the debut of a new Miss Marple, with Cranford's Julia McKenzie stepping into the role.
The eight new Christie adaptations will air on Sunday evenings in 2009 and 2010.
